  2. Hi Randy, your video showed a subculture from our country, very happy and exotic,as alex said we live in Colombia, but sometimes we ignore the richness in folklore and music, as a personal comment, rescuing my pasion for colombian identity, picos are the representation of caribean idiosyncrasy, this music and way of dance is just a part of our multicultural country, and through this video people can learn more about colombian culture, and colombians can understand better the meaning of picos, as a subculture that is part of the national diversity, another remarcable conclusion is that we are influenced by lots of different cultures and countries, and that is what makes us unique and different.

  5. Your video was really amazing. Is good to see that our culture is appreciate it, yet. We are accustom to enjoy us with the outside our country things, for many different reasons; but when we see this kind of videos, we can understand that all this cultural expressions are a really important part of our identity.

Exist also, the generalization that all people who is come from Cartagena are a really good Champeta's dancer. It is not true at all. As we saw in the video you need a really, really good hips movement (and in all body) or you can see as a bad dancer or you can make a fool out of you. This is really fun to try it, but also fun to see.

Another important topic, is the social-economical part of the "picos". If you think about "picos" your mind inmediately goes to the "casetas" and "El Rey de Rocha". Generally people who enjoy this "casetas" are people who live in the "poor areas" of Cartagena. For this reason, people have been trying to make jokes around this topic, just for consider that this is a very popular music.
